Born in England, Theresa Steward immigrated to the United States with her family at an early age. She grew up in the Northwest, attending school while nurturing her passion for piano performance, in particular for the nineteenth century Romantics. Theresa attended the University of Virginia, graduating with Bachelor degrees in both Architecture and Music, going on to work in the field of landscape architecture for 3 years.
Deciding to return to music, she moved to Edinburgh and completed a Masters in Musicology with Distinction from the University of Edinburgh in 2008. She decided to continue her studies at the University and is working on a Ph.D. focusing on popular music practice in Iran.
Although classical music is her first love, Theresa also exhibits a desire for many other forms of music, and enjoys listening to new and old rock, hip-hop, funk and soul, and catchy pop tunes, in her spare time.
